Where to stay in Locorotondo, Puglia
One of the prettiest towns in Puglia, Locorotondo is situated between Martina Franca and Alberobello in the Valle d'Itria. It's one of 'I Borghi più belli d'Italia', meaning "the most beautiful villages of Italy", and is easily explored on foot. The city is known for its wines and for its circular structure - now a historical centre - which is where its name comes from, literally meaning "round place".
The quiet hamlet is perched on a rise, and made up of small white brick houses with pointed, sloping roofs, the typical cummerse. The small houses are surrounded by the famous balcony, called the 'promenade', from which you'll get incredible views across the Valle d'Itria. It's a great place to base yourself in Puglia, as it gives you easy access to Martina Franca, Alberobello, Ostuni, Bari airport, the culinary hubs of Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica, and Matera.
